Questions and answers

On the day of a cremation, your family will gather at the crematorium for a service that typically lasts around 30 to 45 minutes, giving everyone time to say farewell through readings, music, or personal tributes of your choosing. Our team works with you beforehand to plan every detail, so that when the day arrives you can focus entirely on one another rather than logistics. We can also arrange for a separate gathering at a venue such as Ormskirk Parish Church if you would like a longer, more traditional service before or alongside the cremation.

Parking on Wigan Road itself is restricted, but there is a Co-op Food store a short distance up the road where 30 minutes of free parking is available, which is usually enough time for an initial arrangement meeting. Our arrangement room is on the ground floor, which means there are no stairs to manage, though please be aware that we are not currently set up with wheelchair access or an accessible toilet — if this affects your family, do let us know in advance and we will do our best to make things as comfortable as possible. We want your visit to feel unhurried, so if you have any concerns about getting here, just call us beforehand.

Reaching out to us is something you can do at any hour — our team is available around the clock, so you never have to wait until morning to get help or simply to hear a calm, reassuring voice. Once you call, we can arrange for your loved one to be brought into our care and talk you through the paperwork, including the death registration process, which in West Lancashire takes place at the local register office. You do not need to have any decisions made before you contact us; we will guide you through everything one step at a time.

Absolutely — a meaningful farewell does not need to follow any religious tradition, and many families we support choose a fully secular or humanist service tailored around the person who died. We can help you find a celebrant who will take time to learn about your loved one and craft a service that feels personal and true to their life. Whether you would like to hold that service at Ormskirk Parish Church or at a completely different venue, our team will help you make it work.

Yes, our team covers Skelmersdale as well as the wider West Lancashire area, so distance need not be a concern when you reach out to us. Whether your family is based in Skelmersdale, Southport, or closer to Ormskirk itself, we can arrange to support you from the very first call. Please do get in touch and we will talk through everything at whatever pace suits you.
