Co-op Funeralcare, Whitehaven
2 Lowther Street, Whitehaven, CA28 7AL
We're a funeral home in the heart of Whitehaven, serving the communities of Maryport, Workington and Carlisle since 2007. Our clients describe us as "patient, kind, and compassionate". These are words we live by every day as we strive to give everyone who comes to us the best experience possible when arranging a funeral.
We will be led by you in making the funeral arrangements. We will listen as you tell us about who they were and what feels right for them. Then we will use our established relationships with local places of worship and crematoriums in the area, like St Begh's Church and St Andrew's Church to create the funeral that feels right.
If you need us, our friendly team will be here to listen to you and help you every step of the way, whether that's over the phone or in person at our funeral home on Lowther.

We regularly work with local churches including St Begh's Church and St Andrew's Church in the Whitehaven area, and we are experienced in tailoring services to suit any faith tradition, personal belief, or no religious background at all. Whether your family wishes for a traditional religious ceremony, a secular celebration of life, or something that blends elements of both, our team will work closely with you to make the day a true reflection of the person who died. We are here to listen first and plan second.
You do not need to have everything figured out straight away — our team at our Whitehaven funeral home is available to take your call and offer guidance whenever you need us, day or night. Once you feel ready, we will arrange to bring your loved one into our care, handle the necessary paperwork with you, and explain each step clearly without any pressure. Many families find it helpful simply to make that first call, knowing that from that moment on they do not have to face the practical side of things alone.
Our Whitehaven funeral home on Lowther Street serves families across a wide part of West Cumbria and beyond, including Maryport, Workington, and Carlisle. No matter where you are in the area, our team will come to you and guide you through every step at a pace that feels right for your family. Distance is never a barrier to the care we provide.
Our funeral home on Lowther Street is fully accessible, with a ground floor arrangement room, wheelchair access throughout, and an accessible toilet, so every member of your family can be comfortable during what can be a difficult visit. We have six on-site parking spaces and additional pay and display car parks are also available nearby, which means getting to us should be straightforward whether you are coming from central Whitehaven or travelling in from further afield. Our arrangement room seats up to four people comfortably, and our team will always do their best to accommodate your family's needs.
We most commonly use Distington Hall Crematorium and Carlisle Crematorium, depending on your family's wishes and location. On the day, our team will escort your loved one with the same care and dignity we have maintained since we opened in 2007, ensuring the service runs smoothly so you can focus on being present with those around you. We are happy to talk you through exactly what to expect at whichever crematorium you choose, so nothing feels unfamiliar.
