Co-op Insurance has teamed up with RAC to provide breakdown cover. You can add this optional extra when you get a car quote.
Being stranded on the roadside with a broken-down car is the last thing anyone needs. The RAC offers 24 hour breakdown cover, available as an add-on to you car insurance policy.

On average, RAC Patrols repair vehicles within 30 minutes at the roadside (between 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2023).

Breakdown recovery is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by phone or online.
Choose the cover to suit you
Roadside, recovery and onward travel breakdown
Covers your vehicle in the event of a breakdown at the roadside and includes recovery and onwards travel. It excludes breakdown at or within a quarter of a mile from your home.
Roadside, recovery, at home and onward travel breakdown
Covers your vehicle in the event of a breakdown at the roadside or at your home address. Includes recovery and onward travel.
UK and European breakdown
Covers your vehicle in the event of a breakdown in the UK and European Union. Cover also included roadside, recovery, at home cover and onward travel.

Before you buy breakdown cover with us, make sure you haven’t got it elsewhere, as part of a bank account or through a car purchase.
If you do, compare the features and benefits of your existing policy with the ones we can offer you. You should also check the cancellation terms of your existing policy – you might have to pay to cancel it.
Optional extra breakdown cover is offered through Co‑op Insurance Services and provided by RAC Motoring Services
Co-op Car Insurance is normally available to customers aged 17 to 75 years only.
Applicants for insurance are subject to normal underwriting criteria.
