If you're struggling to keep up with payments for your funeral plan, or need access to information in an alternative format, Co-op Funeralcare can offer you the support you need.

Missed funeral plan payments

If you’re worried that you missed a payment or you might miss a payment, but haven’t yet, contact our dedicated support team who can talk you through your options.

We have trained people to help you if you’re particularly anxious when you fall behind with payments. There are also organisations who can help you.

Organisations that can support you with money worries

There are lots of debt advice organisations out there who offer free, confidential support for people with money worries. They can work with you to put together a personalised action plan to help you get your finances back on track.

We’ve listed some of the main organisations and charities below with a description of what support they can offer and how to get in touch with them.

Citizens Advice

Citizens Advice are a national charity who offer confidential advice online, over the phone, and in person. They offer free, impartial, independent advice on debt, benefits, housing, legal matters, employment and general consumer advice.

Moneyhelper: free and impartial help with money, backed by the government

MoneyHelper brings together the support and services of three government-backed financial guidance providers: the Money Advice Service, the Pensions Advisory Service and Pension Wise.

They offer guidance online, over the phone and face-to-face providing support on debt, how to reduce spending and build up savings. They also offer help on redundancy, relationship breakdown or bereavement and how to find out about extra benefits and entitlements.

Stepchange

StepChange are a charity who offer free, flexible debt advice using an online debt advice tool or by speaking to someone.

National Debt Line

National Debt Line are an independent debt advice charity run by the Money Advice Trust. They offer free and confidential advice on debt solutions, dealing with bailiffs, creditors, credit score problems, court action and cost of living.

Allowing someone else to manage your funeral plan

You can appoint someone you trust to manage your funeral plan. For example, a Power of Attorney lets you plan for the future and get longer-term help to manage your Funeral Plan.

There are other formal ways which allows someone else to manage your Funeral Plan on your behalf, such as a Court of Protection or Appointeeship.

Hearing Aids

If visiting a branch and you have issues due to hearing please contact your local Home to discuss the ways we can make it easier to hear us during your appointment.

British sign language interpreter service

You can ask for a BSL interpreter to join a meeting with a funeral director at any of our funeral homes. This service is free and provided by Sign Solutions.

Calling Us with Relay UK

Relay UK lets you type what you’d like to say and one of their assistants joins the call to type our replies. You can use the Relay UK app, or a textphone. The Relay UK website explains how the service works, and how to download and use their app.

To use Relay UK on a textphone, dial 18001 and then the number you’d like to call.

Relay assistants are bound by confidentiality and are acting on your behalf, so it’s safe to answer security questions when using use the service.
