Questions and answers

On the day of the cremation, our team will bring your loved one to the chosen venue and lead the procession so your family can focus entirely on being together. The service itself — whether held at a church such as Sacred Heart RC Church or another location — typically lasts around 30 to 45 minutes, with time for music, readings, and personal tributes. Afterwards, we take care of every practical detail, and our team will talk you through the options for your loved one's ashes at a pace that suits you.

Yes, our team at Abbey on Elliott Street covers Astley as well as the surrounding areas of Tyldesley, Atherton, Worsley, Mosley Common, Boothstown, Howe Bridge, Agecroft, Peel Green, and Overdale. Wherever you are in the area, we can come to you and guide your family through every step. Please do get in touch and we will make sure you are not navigating this alone.

Our arrangement room at Abbey on Elliott Street is on the ground floor, fully accessible by wheelchair, and has an accessible toilet nearby, so every family member can join you comfortably. The room seats six or seven people, giving your family the space to talk things through privately without feeling rushed. Parking is available directly on-site as well as on the cobbled side street and on Elliott Street itself, so getting to us from across Tyldesley and the surrounding areas is straightforward.

We work closely with a number of local churches and faith communities, including St George's Church CofE in Tyldesley, Astley and Tyldesley Methodist Church, Sacred Heart RC Church, and St John's Church in Mosley Common. Whether your family's faith is central to the service or you would prefer a non-religious ceremony, our team will listen carefully and arrange something that truly reflects the person who has died. We have been supporting families in this way since 1980, so you can trust us to handle every detail with care.

When someone has died, you can call us at any time — day or night — and our team will come to bring your loved one into our care from wherever they are, whether that is a home in Worsley, a hospital, or a care setting. We will walk you through the paperwork and legal steps gently and at your own pace, so nothing feels overwhelming. From that very first call, you will have a dedicated person from our team guiding your family through what comes next.
