We're very much here for families across the area, including Swanton Morley, Mattishall, Foulsham, Shipdham, and Reepham, as well as Dereham itself. Our team has been serving these communities since 1920, so wherever you're based nearby, you can count on us to come to you and guide your family through every step.
Our team at RJ Bartram & Son has experience supporting families from many different faith and cultural backgrounds, including Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Jewish, and Catholic communities, as well as Humanist and non-religious ceremonies. We'll listen carefully to your family's wishes and work with the appropriate faith leaders, whether that means coordinating with a mosque, a temple, or a venue like St Nicholas Church or the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Dereham. Nothing is assumed — every arrangement is shaped entirely around what matters most to you.
On the day of a cremation service, our team will collect your loved one and travel with them to the crematorium, while your family and guests gather at the chosen venue — this might be somewhere like Dereham Baptist Church or another location that feels right for your family. The service itself follows whatever order of ceremony you've chosen, and we'll be with you throughout to ensure everything runs smoothly and with dignity. Afterwards, we can talk you through the options for the ashes, whether that's a memorial, a scattering, or keeping them somewhere meaningful.
You don't need to have everything figured out before you call us — our team is here to help at any hour, and the first thing we'll do is arrange for your father to be brought carefully into our care at our funeral home on Theatre Street in Dereham. Once he is with us, you can take a little time before coming in to sit down with us in our arrangement room, where we'll walk you through the paperwork and decisions at whatever pace feels right for your family. There's no rush, and nothing you need to have worked out in advance.
Parking is straightforward when you visit us — our funeral home sits directly within the Theatre Street Car Park in Dereham, which is a council-owned car park with hundreds of free spaces, so you won't need to worry about finding a spot or paying a meter during what is already a difficult time. The building is fully accessible at ground level, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance, an accessible toilet, and an arrangement room on the ground floor, so every member of your family is able to visit comfortably.
